DRAMA AT KITSCOTY HIGH SCHOOL

Kitscoty High School Christmas Drama Another Success
Sharlie Sjoquist, entertaining us with her amazing talent

Our 2014 Christmas play has come and gone in the most successful way! The students performed The One and Only Santa Claus three times: for the Elementary Division II students, for the public, and for our school and seniors after Christmas dinner.  Ms Paull, the director, is SO VERY PROUD of how her students rose up to the challenge, despite our battle against the flu! Here are just a few of the many pictures.

The teachers were challenged to decorate their classroom doors for Christmas...Challenge Accepted! The school is looking mighty Christmasy, don't you think?

The "Oh Deer" door was the winner of the door decorating voting, but we think all doors are pretty awesome!
Merry Christmas from all of us to all of you!

Jr Boys Basketball take the silver!

In their first tourney of the year, the junior boys basketball team won the silver medal. The tournament took place at St. Jerome's School in Vermilion. Our Cavaliers beat St. Jerome's in the first game and then defeated Marwayne in the second game.

They met up with a tough St. Paul team in the finals and were down 30-19 at the half after a slow second quarter. The boys rallied in the third quarter with three 3-pointers in a row by Michael Antonio to close the gap to within 2 points. The teams battled back and forth and the Cavs were down by 3 with less than a minute to go. With chances to tie, the Junior Cavaliers just couldn't get the ball to drop before the clock ran out. After showing a no-quit, well fought performance, the Cavaliers proudly wore their silver medals, knowing that it was a great showing early on in the season.

La Fête de la Sainte-Catherine at KHS

In French 8 on December 8, we planned on celebrating The Feast of Saint Catherine by pulling molasses taffy. This was the end of our mini-unit of La Fête de la Sainte-Catherine. Unfortunately, the recipe decided to be Brittle instead of taffy, so we got to try molasses candy instead.

TERRY FOX RUN

KHS again participated in the annual Terry Fox run. This was our 31st year of doing so. We wore red in support of cancer research. Mrs. Stockman welcomed, thanked and congratulated all participants and Hunter led us in a reflection about Terry Fox.

After collecting pledges, we are happy to report that we have donated to the Terry Fox Foundation over $5000.00!!

On September 18th, we welcomed former WWE wrestling champion Marc Mero and his Mero's Heroes to our school to deliver a powerful message about the power of positive choices.

The message was very impactful and took us from laughter, to tears, to deep critical thinking as we
listened to Marc's story of success, failure, persistence, choices and "dreaming big".
