Canadians Womens Hockey

Kennedy King's grade 7 class was given an assignment to learn more about something they’re interested in or passionate about. The class was given 80 minutes every Monday for 8 weeks to work on their projects. Every topic varied; from the Mars One mission to how the human eye works to explaining the cow's digestive system.

As part of her Genius Hour project, Kennedy King chose to learn more about women's history in hockey and invited Loretta Normandeau, hockey administrator and Alberta Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, to speak to the students about her involvement in women's hockey over the course of the years. Loretta has been a hockey administrator for 25 years and helped jumpstart women's hockey in Alberta. She has coached many recognizable names, including Hayley Wickenheiser, two-time Olympic gold medal winner. 

Loretta spoke to the student body on May 5th, at an assembly in the gym, where she shared her magnificent story. Check out our story on NewCap news:
